Roommate
Requests
If you would like the SPCP to help you find a roommate for
the Convention, you must fill out the
Roommate Request Form and return it
with your registration as soon as possible. If you are registering online,
please write in the notes that you need a roommate and what your check in
and check out dates are, and whether you need smoking or non-smoking.
You may also call the main office with this information. It is harder to find roommates as the convention
nears, so please submit your request early. Remember February 1, 2010 is the
deadline for the SPCP room rates – it is better to cancel a reservation if
you find a roommate than to be without a room altogether!
Important
Convention Regulations
No videotaping or flash photography is permitted during lectures. All
cell phones and pagers must be turned off or set to vibrate; text messaging
is not permitted. Computers cannot be on during lectures. In
consideration of our paid vendors, there is to be no sales or promotion of
products or services outside the vendor room. No procedures of any kind may
be conducted anywhere within the hotel before or during the convention
dates. A name badge is required for admittance to all functions.
Loss of your badge will result in a $10.00 replacement charge. Please help
us eliminate the embarrassment of having to remove non-paying friends or
relatives accompanying you to the lectures. Badges will be checked.
An evaluation form is provided for each class. For attendees to obtain
credit hours, the evaluation form needs to be turned in immediately after
each class. If you arrive fifteen minutes late for a lecture or leave before
a lecture is completed, you cannot receive continuing education credits for
that particular lecture. Certificates will be mailed after the convention.

to our members. Members may purchase items such as colorful client
brochures, before and after care instructions, client history, and other

Tools
for Success - Build a promotional PowerPoint Presentation
Technology plays an
integral role in the way we conduct business today. Many
technicians have gone beyond the waiting room binders of before
and after pictures and use digital photo frames to display their
work. Others choose to sit with their perspective clients with a
laptop presentation during the consultation so that they may be
able to have one on one interaction. Building creative,
eye-catching presentations is easier than one might think.
Hector Guisa presented this concept at the Fall Conference and
everyone wanted to start on theirs right away!
We are excited to have him host this expanded
workshop. Groups will be divided into round tables and you will
create a workable presentation. There will even be prizes
awarded to the table with the best display! To take full
advantage of this workshop, you will need a laptop with MS
Office software that includes PowerPoint. Have examples of your
before and after pictures, maybe some photos of your studio,
yourself, etc., pre-loaded in an accessible folder. Only a
limited amount of attendees are able to register without a
laptop to partner up with others so be sure to register early as
this is basically a hands on workshop.

Lip Color with a Single Needle. Really.
Val’s expertise comes from her early beginnings, starting her
cosmetic tattoo career in 1985 performing procedures for six
years with a single needle in a bamboo stick. It was a natural
progression to move to a rotary machine to continue single
needle work doing pointillism, giving the same clean implant of
color. Many believe this technique could not/should not be done,
however, Val will demonstrate her successful technique that has
withstood the test of time – tattoo techniques from the past
brought to the present.
